Who doesn’t like drinking out of a mug that has been hand painted for them?, especially if the illustration painted on it is their own choice.
This mug here, was rather a challenge as I had been asked to do one with both a horse and an owl on it!!
After finding some inspiration on Pinterest (how did we exist without it before!!) to get some ideas, and a few sketches later, I ended up deciding on this design.

The Owl |
The paints I used are for porcelain, made by Pebeo and I also used a black porcelain marker, by Marabu. After painting the mug and letting it dry (I left it to dry for more than 24 hours), I then cured in the oven for 35 minutes and at a temperature of 150ºC. By doing this the mug is then dishwasher safe, so you don’t have to be afraid of it fading or spoiling.
The Horse |
The beauty of a hand painted mug, is that the end product is useful, and not just something to put on the shelf.
In the end I was rather pleased with the results as I think I combined the horse and owl without it looking too weird.
